Artisans Guild

Overview

The SV Artisans Guild Committee promotes the artistic talents of our community members by conducting periodic art shows in the Clubhouse’s Concert Hall. All forms of art can be displayed in the shows and can be offered for sale at the choice of each individual artist. In order to participate in an art show, each artist must complete and sign an “Art Release and Waiver of Liability form” In addition, a “Artisans Guild Show Submission Form” form must be completed for each show.

All artwork needs to remain displayed for the length of the show in which it is entered.

“Artist Choice”

Featured Artist: Joseph Lichaa

For 40 years, I've been involved in the enhancement of my client's homes, anywhere from building an addition to faux finishing the walls. Some of the jobs were from the major designers in DC who used to call me their secret weapon. They would give me a color for the bathroom, living room, etc., and I would choose the materials, either a wallpaper, faux finish, or venetian plaster. My favorite part of all my work was the creative aspect.

We lived on the water and were surrounded by the beauty of nature. In January 2010, I was in my office cleaning up my supplies and I found unused plaster and a piece of wood. I created a painting of two men fishing in our river by coloring the plaster and using a pallet knife. Zina saw my work and knew that becoming an artist was the direction I should take. As a present she got me lessons with Nancy Tankersly and bought an easel. I took lessons from her then bought CDs and read books. I now have been painting in oils and watercolor for the past 12 years.
