Artisans Guild
Overview
The SV Artisans Guild Committee promotes the artistic talents of our community members by conducting periodic art shows in the Clubhouse’s Concert Hall. All forms of art can be displayed in the shows and can be offered for sale at the choice of each individual artist. In order to participate in an art show, each artist must complete and sign an “Art Release and Waiver of Liability form” In addition, a “Artisans Guild Show Submission Form” form must be completed for each show.
All artwork needs to remain displayed for the length of the show in which it is entered.

Featured Artist Peggy Decker
Eleven years ago, Peggy and her husband Art relocated from Pasadena, California, to the Eastern Shore. Originally from Colorado, Peggy earned her BA in Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1964.
While teaching over the following years, Peggy furthered her education, obtaining a Special Education Certification from California State University and an MA in Computers in the Classroom from Walden University.
Peggy began her teaching career in January 1964 in Turner, a suburb of Kansas City, Kansas, where she taught for a year and a half. Unsure if she wanted to remain in education, she moved to Denver, Colorado, in June 1965 and worked as an assistant buyer for The Denver (now Macy's). Between 1966 and 1968, she continued working in merchandising at the Bon Marche in Seattle, Washington, and Bullocks in Los Angeles, California.
In the fall of 1968, Peggy returned to education, teaching in Glendale and South Pasadena, California. She married her first husband in 1970. During the summer of 1973, they spent three months exploring Europe by car, traveling on both back roads and through major cities.
Peggy left teaching in 1976 to stay home with her two children, Sarah and Russell. In 1981, her husband's work took their family to Brisbane, Australia, where they lived for four years. In the summer of 1985, they returned to the United States, extending their travels to Singapore, Thailand, China, and Japan.
Peggy resumed teaching in 1992, focusing on Special Education students in West Covina, California. She and Art married on July 29, 2000, and settled in Pasadena, California. Peggy continued teaching until her retirement at the end of the 2007 school year, completing a 25-year teaching career.
Peggy has enjoyed creative hobbies since childhood. In 2011, seeking a new artistic pursuit, she chose watercolor painting, which remains her favorite medium today.
