Overview

The SV Artisans Guild Committee promotes the artistic talents of our community members by conducting periodic art shows in the Clubhouse’s Concert Hall. All forms of art can be displayed in the shows and can be offered for sale at the choice of each individual artist. In order to participate in an art show, each artist must complete and sign an “Art Release and Waiver of Liability form” In addition, a “Artisans Guild Show Submission Form” form must be completed for each show.

All artwork needs to remain displayed for the length of the show in which it is entered.

“Artist Choice”

Featured Artist Robert (Bob) Ciesieiski

Robert (Bob) Ciesieiski began painting in the 1980s under the tutelage of nationally known painter and teacher, James Masters. Although he has always favored oil painting, he also works in watercolor. While landscapes have long been his preferred subjects, in recent years he has ventured beyond them, especially since moving to Symphony Village and joining The Artisans Guild.

Bob's frequent visits to Ireland have provided enduring inspiration, leading him to paint many of his favorite scene’s multiple times. He loves the constantly changing weather and cloud formations that provide variety for his landscapes. Whatever the subject of his paintings, he uses light and shadow and color contrast to catch the viewers interest and create a mood for the scene.

Bob has exhibited his work at numerous venues, including Quiet Waters in Annapolis, The WSSC Art Gallery, Huntington Community Center, Laurel Lakes gallery, and a notable show at the Bowie Senior Center, following his unexpected role as the “accidental” painter on the church group trip to Greece. He captured many of the picturesque Greek Island’s scenes and sold the resulting paintings to his fellow travelers.

Bob has won numerous awards for his oil and watercolor paintings.

Although Bob likes plein air painting, he mostly starts painting outdoors and then continues his work from photographs and sketches in his Centreville studio. He has continued to self-study to improve his art and is influenced by contemporary artists such as Richard Schmid and Tom Lynch.
