Artisans Guild

Overview

The SV Artisans Guild Committee promotes the artistic talents of our community members by conducting periodic art shows in the Clubhouse’s Concert Hall. All forms of art can be displayed in the shows and can be offered for sale at the choice of each individual artist. In order to participate in an art show, each artist must complete and sign an “Art Release and Waiver of Liability form” In addition, a “Artisans Guild Show Submission Form” form must be completed for each show.

All artwork needs to remain displayed for the length of the show in which it is entered.

Featured Artist Kathy McManus

In 2014, I moved to Symphony Village and that unexpectedly became the beginning of my watercolor journey. I had previously tried my hand at a myriad of crafts: macrame, knitting, crocheting, tole painting, etc. Here in this community, surrounded by talented and welcoming people, I discovered watercolor - a medium that challenged, inspired and continues to bring me joy.

What began as a curiosity soon grew into a passion, thanks to the generosity and encouragement of fellow artists who were willing to share their knowledge, time and even their supplies. I am especially grateful to Sue Canfield, Peggy Decker and Cathy Olson whose mentorship, kindness and belief in me gave me the confidence to keep painting, learning and growing.

I've happily been a member of the Artisans Guild and served as Chair from 2022-2024.

So, here I am almost twelve years later and the featured artist! It's been a journey - some successes, some failures and a lot of paintings in between.
